They were sent down 50 years ago when the judge Mr Justice Melford Stevenson drily opined, “I think society has earned a rest from your activities.” They were told that they must serve a minimum of 30 years but Ronnie and Reggie Kray were still behind bars until their deaths in 1995 and 2000 respectively.
