The Osceola County School District in Florida has publicly announced the successful completion of the three-month pilot program using the Live Music Tutor education tool that provides real-time interactive music classes from educators all around the world. Five K-12 schools took part in the initiative to measure the effectiveness of the online music tool in the classrooms.

During the past three months, Live Music Tutor, the worlds’ first online music education platform, provided interactive master classes as well as individual lessons to children in string programs in five strategically chosen schools in Florida. The main aim of the district was to improve its string program, writes Nicole Gorman of Education World. According to the official data, there are 21 programs within the area, but only four professional string teachers are at students’ disposal.

Because music teachers, and especially highly-specialized ones such as string educators, are hard to find, the district joined the pilot program with Live Music Tutor hoping that the tool would personalize music tutoring for the schools’ variety of learners.

After finishing up the pilot program, Debbie Fahmie, Fine & Performing Arts Resource Specialist for the Osceola County District, described it as mutually beneficial for all the parties involved:

“What makes Live Music Tutor the perfect resource is that the instructors will totally customize a lesson to the individual needs of the music teacher and students. Each school and music teacher has different needs, and Live Music Tutor can accommodate that with their wide range of experts and their customized programming.”

Fahmie also pointed out that the program provided valuable experience and further developed the professional competence of the music teachers, a competitive advantage that she said would transfer over to their students.

In turn, Tod Gee, Live Music Tutor’s co-founder, said that the initiative exceeded their expectations, and he was optimistic about the future of the online music tool in the classrooms across the country:

“Live Music Tutor’s success as a top-quality, cost-effective resource for completely customizable supplemental instruction could be the roadmap to a long-term solution for helping school districts revitalize their programs to meet this new requirement for music education.”

Established in 2011, Live Music Tutor is the first of its kind web application securing online interaction between students and music teachers. It offers a professional curriculum of live, interactive, tailor-made music lessons to people of all ages and experience levels.

Students can take lessons with teachers from all around the world by registering on LiveMusicTutor.com to find a music instructor teaching the instruments of their choice and then scheduling a lesson by paying the fee. Students may book either individual or group lessons, with group lessons being based on age and skill level. LiveMusicTutor.com delivers its lessons online via a customized video technology.

Students may also share their experiences with friends and family via the social media. LiveMusicTutor.com also has a unique points system through which students earn credentials for taking lessons, practicing and uploading videos.

Each instructor is subject to preliminary screening and a background check to ensure the safety of all students, the corporate site reads.
