Emily opens the curtain of her bedside window and looks at the city. Light is only just beginning to collect around the edges of the buildings. She could get another hour’s sleep, but instead she watches the sunlight emerge from the jagged grey horizon. He is out there somewhere; perhaps he is watching the dawn also.
