Britons face ‘significant drop in income’ as furlough and Universal Credit uplift ends

BRITONS are set to face a “significant drop in income” after the Government’s furlough scheme and £20 per week uplift to Universal Credit comes to an end later this month. Formally known as the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, the furlough scheme is set to end on September 30, 2021. During his Budget announcement earlier this year, Chancellor Rishi Sunak confirmed the temporary increase to Universal Credit payments would be phased out by October.
