Degreed Launches Mobile Education App

Degreed, an educational app focused on informal lifelong and professional learning, has released a native app for free on the iOS App Store.
Degreed, which was previously only a web app, helps users learn from any source on the internet and record what they’ve studied in a portfolio. This is an alternative to more formal learning, like university ot online courses, which might not showcase everything that someone has gained from self-directed, independent online research.
According to Market Wired, the service’s features include a personal profile complete with analytics, a dashboard of curated content, the ability to save content, and a network of learners on various social media profiles that you can interact and learn with. Sources include podcasts, YouTube videos, and articles. When users sign up, they are given topics to choose from, with some of the most popular including marketing, finance, and web development, says Brandy Shaul of Social Times. After they finish reading, watching, or listening to a source, they can mark it as complete and share what they learned from it.
According to the service’s website, it can be integrated with popular apps including Skillshare, Readability, Pluralsight, Goodreads, Code School, Codeacademy, Treehouse, Pocket, Khan Academy, Udemy, Alison, and Coursera.
The mobile app aims to make it easier for people to learn on the go, as well as to transition their profiles seamlessly from mobile to desktop.

The service has promised to stay free forever, reports Luis D. of Phone Arena.
This release follows a $ 21 million round of Series B funding in January of 2016 and the company’s acquisition of Gibbon.
Degreed was founded in 2012 by David Blake and Eric Sharp, and launched publicly in early 2013. Now, it is headquartered in San Francisco with an additional office in Salt Lake City.
