Pound euro exchange rate subdued as Conservative election campaign gets off to shaky start

At the time of writing the GBP/EUR exchange rate is rangebound at €1.162, with the pound struggling for direction as the UK General Election campaign train gets into full swing. The race for Number 10 was officially triggered in the early hours of Wednesday morning as parliament was dissolved.
