Pound US dollar exchange rate: GBP rises on impressive retail sector recovery

THE pound has firmed against the US dollar today, thanks to better-than-expected UK retail sales data. The unexpectedly positive results have pushed the pound US dollar exchange rate up to a level of $ 1.271, which represents a recovery from the week’s current low of $ 1.267.
