TWO WHITE coffins surrounded by black-clad mourners during the overture of Patrick Mason’s staging of Romeo Et Juliette reveal what we already know of the young lovers’ fate. The suitably dramatic scene updates the tale from Renaissance Italy to the Fascist 1930s where the feuding Veronese families are blackshirt Capulets and anarchic Montagues.
