Vietnam travel 2020: Scoot along the mighty Mekong

THE man smiled softly and nodded in answer to my question. “Yes, we always knew we would win,’’ he said. “We would go on, we had the spirit to win in the end.” He is Mr Sau Dien, aged 74, and I am in a rural backwater village on Long Khanh Island, deep in Vietnam’s vast, sultry Mekong Delta.
